Winter months are killer on our skin here in Colorado!
This tip is for gals and guys -
This is the perfect time of the year to take more time to properly care for your skin. You have some down time - not as busy as summer - maybe...
If you are a skier or out in the winter weather a lot, you wouldn't want to exfoliate as listed below.
If you have skin problems, call Debbie - At the Ranch Spa - for a free skin analysis. If you have acne, excema, rosacea, or other skin problems, don't take the chance of trying to treat without a professional skin care specialist helping you decide the best treatments and products.
Let's talk about exfoliation and hydration.....
Exfoliation is needed to remove dry skin and new skin cells will appear.
- Did you know that a wash cloth can even be an exfoliator? Problem with that is - you really don't want to be stretching the skin on your face; especially around the eyes. The skin around your eyes in the most delicate part of your body. Treat it kindly, as you will be thankful that you did in your more mature years.
- Use a mild exfoliation product (with fine crystals) on your face, at least once a week. Some skin types can use more often.
- Use a different body scrub on the rest of your body 2 - 3 times a week. Remember to exfoliate the tops of your hands.
- Using a dry soft toothbrush, 3 times a week, brush your lips
- Having a microdermabrasion treatment is a fast and inexpensive way to exfoliate your skin.
Sunscreens are critical when you exfoliate and sunscreens are needed even in the winter! You want to take care of that new baby soft skin..
Hydration is very important in the winter months. We get soooo dry! Moisturize moisturize moisturize...
- It is VERY important that you use the right hydration products on your face specifically for your skin type.
- Apply a small amount of baby oil to your body (not face) at the end of your shower.. (but be careful and don't slip in the shower!)
- Always apply lotion to your body am and pm. Shea butters, almond butters, vitamin enriched creams are the best!
- Use a lip balm that will hydrate your skin. Some of the most popular brands appear to be long-lasting but they just coat the lips. "Kiss my face" is a great moisturizing lip balm; there are others but I cannot list all of them. If you are going skiing and cannot stop to moisturize, wear one of those "coating" brands for the day.
- Don't forget your feet, especially the heels!
Moisturizers for the face are very skin type specific. So if you need help with what type of moisturizers to use, contact a skin care specialist.
Gals - Exfoliation and hydration will make your makeup application look soft and radiant and your body will look and feel soft!
